Jan Oblak reported had signed a contract extension with Atletico Madrid. It was confirmed that the contract will keep the goalkeeper at the club for the next 4 years, until 2023. The 26-year-old is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He has kept 115 clean sheets in 203 appearances since joining Atletico Madrid in 2014.
Following the news, Jan Oblak has stated that he was very happy to have signed a contract extension and to stay with the club.
"I'm going to defend these colors to the best of my abilities and continue working hard," Oblak said.
Jan Oblak joined Los Rojiblancos in 2014 as a replacement for Thibaut Courtois who returned to Chelsea following his loan spell in the Spanish capital. He had helped the club win the Spanish Super Cup in his first season. The Slovenian international player has since added the Europea League and UEFA Super Cup, while his penalty save in the 2016 Champions League semifinal win over Bayern Munich had helped Atletico Madrid reach a second final in three years.
